Palm Harbor is just north of Dunedin. It has an
interesting history. Both Ozona and Palm Harbor were settled by JC Craver. He
came here in the winter of 1877 on the advice of his Doctor. Ozona means pure
air. Palm Harbor was originally called Sutherland. In 1988 the post office and
the railroad came through and the name was switched from Sutherland to Palm
Harbor. That happened in 1925.
Sutherland
had two beautiful hotels. The largest one became southern college in 1902. It
was on the bluff overlooking Sutherland Bayou and the Gulf of Mexico.
Sutherland was named after a Duke of Sutherland who came to the area after
landing in Tarpon Springs in 1887. See Palm Harbor

Palm
Harbor had a population of about 60,000. It still has a relaxed and serene
atmosphere much like that of a small town. Many tourists are attracted by its
warm vibes and it has become one of the most affluent communities in the Tampa
bay area. It is blessed with almost perfect weather. Winters are moderate and
hurricanes are a rare occurrence in this area. Search
